Aussie Open Tennis

I cannot believe I'm watching an AustralianOpen tennis match at 4:30 in the morning. I can't believe they're playing at this hour. Yes, the Aussie Open. In Melbourne. Not Wimbledon. It was an epic 4.75 hour battle between Hewitt & Baghdatis. Incredible. Good on ya Lleyton! Good on ya both!^^

Caught unawares

It's unusual that I get calls from anyone outside our global Sales Operations team but today I got a call from a sales guy based in our Taiwan office. I answered the phone with "This is Amanda speaking" (as I do), and to my surprise he started ranting off in Mandarin. I suppose he just assumed that I could speak the language by looking at my surname? But 'Chan' is Cantonese not Mandarin...Anyway, I guess the 6 months I spent in BJ has turned out to be a useful investment.^^ What I really need to do now is keep working on increasing my vocab and my speed in "switching channels". I couldn't even manage to spit out "mei wen ti". (-_-')

今日、朝から息が苦しくてちょっときつい...深呼吸してもO2が足りないって感じ。何でだろうね。消化不良？ストレス？仕事に夢中して呼吸することを忘れてしまった？姿勢の問題？
それにもかかわらず、３ヶ月ぶりにバドミントンをしました。会社の同僚４人とのバドミントンは初めてでちょっと緊張しました。緊張感のせいか、練習不足のせいか、下手になったなぁ。^^でも、楽しかったです。来週から水曜日のUTSサークルに戻りたいと思います。

あっ、途中で日本語になっちゃった。私、頭がめちゃくちゃよね。^^

Happy New Year!

Where has the year gone?

Thanks to my sister, I got a prime viewing spot to see the new year fireworks in Sydney Harbour last night. If I remember correctly, the last time I went to the Sydney NYE fireworks was in 2000 and I vowed that once was enough. But the atmosphere is very different when you're amongst such a huge crowd of people. After a hectic and tiring 3 weeks, I had trouble trying to stay awake during the 3 hour wait between the 9pm and midnight fireworks display. But it was all worth it...The finale was truly spectacular! Fireworks erupted from the top and the side of the Harbour Bridge as well as out of the water right in front of us. It was an amazing sight and a special feeling. (Though it can't have been good for the environment...) Thanks for a great night ApfC! Sorry for nodding off in the car on the way home. (-_-')　I don't like to admit it, but I think I'm getting too old for this! ^^'
